Sassy Scorpionfish

oil on handmade wood panel

The Weedy Scorpionfish is a master of camouflage, hiding in reef, seaweed, and rock. They wait patiently and undetected for fish to swim near and then lunge forward and just swallow their prey whole with their large mouths. They are dangerous due to the venom stored inthe spines on their back.
